5th Congressional Race

ATTENTION WAL-MART SHOPPERS: We have a special on congressional candidates on aisle one.

Having just read the letter released by Bentley Rayburn, a Candidate for Congress in the 5th Congressional District in which he stated his intent to circumvent the caucus process and petition onto the ballot I feel I must take to task several things stated in his letter.

American Lives Lost

I realize today is Martin Luther King day but I just received an e-mail reminding me that tomorrow is the anniversary of another important day in America, although maybe not one to be celebrated. Tuesday January 23, 2008 is the 35th anniversary of the Supreme Court of the United States passing of Roe v. Wade.

Since this landmark decision over 40 million Americans have lost their lives, not to the army of another country, not to radical Islamists but at the hands of other Americans before they were even allowed to take their first breath.

This will not be the day of celebration for the struggles of a great American, instead it will be a day of reflecting on a tremendous loss. How many Martin Luther Kings, how many Ronald Reagans, how many Mother Theresas, how many precious lives? So the next time we stand up and sing God Bless America we may want to ask ourselves how long we actually expect Him to do so.

The Wiggy Party

THE WIGGY PARTY

Yes, I can spell, I’m not referencing the American Whigs of 1776 who fought for independence. Nor am I talking about the Whig Party formed by Henry Clay to oppose Andrew Jackson’s policies. I’m talking about today’s liberals and specifically the Hillary Clinton campaign. The WIGGY’S. The party of WHAT I’M GONNA GIVE YOU.

Painful as it was I spent a little time on Hillary’s official campaign website yesterday and the string of promises was impressive to say the least. You had Hillary Care, Hillary College, Hillary 401k, Hillary child care, even Hillary classes for new parents who need to have the government teach them how to take care of their new babies. And the list goes on and on, and on and on……….

I have met the enemy and it is US

I have seen the enemy and it is US!

If it isn’t perfect, it isn’t acceptable. That’s what I am hearing from many in the Republican Party about our candidates in the upcoming Presidential election. Perfect is certainly a desirable quality but in most cases I find that it is pretty hard to achieve.

I can’t imagine refusing a medicine that I need for a medical condition because it is not perfect. Development of the perfect medicine is I imagine many years away. How about finding the perfect life mate. Some may be pretty wonderful but perfect probably lasts till just after the honeymoon. Perfect home, perfect food, perfect town, perfect vacation????? Show me someone who says something is perfect and I’ll show you someone who is delusional.

Taxpayer Funded Preschools

If you ever wondered why we at Rocky Mountain Politics question whether federal, state or local governmetn can "do stuff," you only need to read the Sept. 25 Denver Post editorial entitled "Promising preschool program needs work."

The Post says,

"The Denver Preschool Program is ready to start cutting checks to parents whose children enroll in approved preschools. . . .

You're darn right they're ready to cut checks! Read on:
